Our Team

John founded Horizon Financial Solutions so he could freely integrate his business into his Christian faith. Shortly after founding Horizon he dedicated the business to Biblically Responsible Investing. A lifelong resident of the Kanawha Valley, John spent his first career in the chemical industry before starting a career in the Financial Industry in 1993. His professional designations include Life Underwriter Training Counsel Fellow (LUTCF), certified instructor in Biblical Stewardship.

Matt is a practicing CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional and has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board). Matt has worked at Horizon Financial since 2006 and is responsible for individual and business client financial planning, investment operations and outreach. In addition the CFP® designation Matt holds his license in Life and Health, General Securities (Series 7), Series 66, Registered Principal (Series 24) and Investment Banking (Series 79). He is a graduate of Georgetown College and holds a certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University's Center for Professional Education.

Luke is a 2019 graduate of Marshall University with a BA in both Finance and Accounting. As a lifelong resident of West Virginia, he aims to help the state become more financially literate. Luke has a passion to help people achieve their financial goals. He believes that faith and finances are not mutually exclusive, and that the Bible offers timeless wisdom in money management.

Mary Ann has more than 23 years experience in corporate retirement plan administration and numerous years of manufacturing and financial office management. She has a passion to serve our clients with excellence.  She enjoys wading through the mounds of paperwork necessary to assist a widow or widower with claim forms and to assist her coworkers with new account applications. Attention to detail is joy to her as she follows through on paperwork from start to completion. In her spare time, she enjoys bicycling, hiking, fishing and gardening. She strives to do her work as unto the Lord.
